Ben Honey has achieved international acclaim with his art, which is loosely based on a genre known as “Folk Art”.
Folk Art is broadly defined and characterised by a ‘naïve’ style, in which traditional rules of proportion and perspective are not employed.
Folk Art is often culturally specific and his work has a quintessential English accent with his portrayal of lighthouses, windmills, narrow boats, costal cottages, red postboxes, and other common cultural references.
He paints mostly in acrylics, but may also include some collage and everyday items such as newspaper cuttings and print text.
His work is vibrant, fun and mostly nonsensical, and it’s not surprising that he’s in great demand as an artist, with not only a unique style, but also his whimsical portrayal of ‘a sense of ‘Englishness’ in his paintings.
Ben is one of the many accomplished artists sponsored by London Visual Arts.
